As with all 4WD systems, you cannot use it on dry/non-slip surfaces where sharp turns will set up great torsion between the axles and can break the transfer case. 4WD Lock in the KIA is fine for doing basically anything like you see in the Telluride 'muddy field' commercial because the wheels can slip to relieve the torsion build-up.
